2nd Grade Newsletter August 24-28, 2026
Dear Second Grade Families,
We have had the most joyful week learning to work and play together. What an amazing group of second graders we have!
This week we learned about our school expectations and how to show respect to one another and to reverence Our Lord in the Chapel. Our Second Graders have done a beautiful job in both areas.
Attached you will find the newsletter. This week we will set up our ELA binders, spelling books and learn to write in our planners. We will have homework four nights a week as follows:
Monday: Write spelling words 3x each (in Spelling Notebook); read fluency passage
Tuesday: Write Spelling words in sentences (At least 5); read fluency passage
Wednesday: Write the Dictation Sentences; read fluency passage
Thursday: Create a story using our spelling words; read fluency passage
In addition, Students will practice addition in the Math practice book for five minutes.
This week, we will learn how to do our homework in school. The homework pattern will repeat each week.
We will also follow our academic and special class schedule this week. That means we will change classrooms by subject. Mrs. McCain will teach Math, Social Studies and Science. Ms. Plunkett will teach ELA and Religion. We will complete many projects together.
We look forward to inviting you into our classrooms at Meet the Teacher on Wednesday, August 26, between 6-8. We will be happy to answer any questions at that time.
Thank you for entrusting your students to our care. They are amazing young people!
May your families be blessed!
Peace and joy!
Ms. Margaret Plunkett
Mrs. Morgan McCain
