iReady diagnostic Starting on August 31

Dear Families,

Royalmont Academy will be completing the Mathematics and Reading i-Ready Inform Assessment starting on Monday, August 31st.

What is i-Ready Inform™* and i-Ready Personalized Instruction?

i-Ready is an online Mathematics and/or Reading program designed to support teacher-led instruction. It helps your student’s formator(s) determine opportunities for growth, personalize learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows your formator(s) to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student’s learning gains. i-Ready consists of two parts:

  • The i-Ready Inform assessment is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s instructional level, giving teachers the data they need to best support each student’s learning. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions.
  • i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with engaging, interactive lessons tailored to their individual skill level and opportunities for improvement, so every student can learn at a pace that is just right for them.  i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual strengths and areas for growth. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn.

What can parents do to help?

To help prepare your student for the i-Ready Inform assessment, encourage your child to:

  • Get a good night’s sleep and eat a full breakfast the day of the assessment.
  • Try their best on each question and try not to rush.
  • Try not to worry about questions they do not know—remind them that it is expected they will get only about half of the questions correct.
  • Be respectful of other students who take longer to finish.
  • [If you are using i-Ready for Mathematics, include, “Use paper and pencil to show work for math questions.”]

 To support your student’s learning with online lessons, you can:

  • Discuss your student’s progress on their i-Ready
  • Celebrate your student’s learning and growth.
  • If your student’s formator encourages them to use i-Ready lessons at home, reference these Fridge Tips (English, Spanish) to provide support.

As a recognition of their best effort, classrooms who have 90% or more who do not rush through the test will receive an out-of-uniform day on a day designated by administration.
