Learning how to be a good kindergartener doesn’t have to be boring.
Mrs. Gately’s Kindergarten News | September 18
A Message from Mrs. Gately
We have been working hard on controlling our bodies and practicing how we speak in the classroom: using a quiet voice and allowing our teacher and friends to finish speaking.
Much of kindergarten is learning how to be a student and a good friend, what to do when we are upset, and how to practice self-control. We are playing lots of games to build these skills, and we are making lots of progress!
What We Learned
- Reading: We added the letter /d/ and read The Dot. Inspired by Kandinsky, we painted our own dot pictures.
- Math: We learned about two-dimensional shapes.
- Writing: We explored how illustrations help tell a story, whether we use realistic or creative colors.
- Religion: We learned about the Ten Commandments and practiced our songs for Grandparents Day.
- Social Studies: We are all “smart cookies”! We each have gifts to share, and our gifts can be different from those of others.
- Science: We explored living and nonliving things.
