6-8 Religion – Moving On From Quiz Drama

David Brunsman · September 18, 2026

A lot was thrown up into the air with the quizzes that were administered in 6th and 7th Grade on Monday. First, I learned not to give a quiz on Monday (my apologies). On Monday evening, I e-mailed all parents and students with an urgent message that an extension would be provided and that students could re-study for their quiz and make corrections (or finish) their exams on Tuesday. However, for some reason, many did not see the e-mail, so the extension was extended further from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Now, Quizzes have finally been administered, taken, and graded, and the results are pretty good! I’m very proud of how our students overcame a difficult exam and circumstance to embrace our School Motto: “Always Higher.”

Therefore, 6th and 7th Grade Religion classes moved onward and upward to their subsequent curriculum chapters in Faith and Life.

Packets, which include the in-class reading sections, as well as the worksheets for homework, were given to ALL students on Wednesday. My hope moving forward is that, for all students involved, homework will be easier, studying for exams will be easier, and ultimately, class participation will be easier.

Thank you for your patience as I navigated this first round of uncertainty on my end. I’m still learning about best practices for homework, testing, and classroom discussion.

For the 8th Graders, things went more smoothly and they will be quizzed (speaking of quizzes) on Encounter: Chapter 04 on Friday (September 18). Our discussions about the Story of Salvation has been fruitful and I feel that the students are understanding and embracing the interconnectedness of the Old Testaments and the New Testaments – the proof that we know God makes and keeps promises, and therefore, we can trust Him.
