Middle Schoolers Explore Connections Between Social Studies and ELA

Megan Chappie · October 23, 2026

Currently in middle school, Royalmont students are working on one significant project–their research papers on a saint of their choice–across two separate class periods: social studies and ELA. Mrs. Ehlert has guided them through the research process over the past several weeks. Now, with blue notecards listing facts and sources in hand, they are ready to bring that work to ELA class and turn put their newfound knowledge onto paper in their own words.

The outlines for these papers are due Wednesday, October 28, so that by the time we celebrate All Saints Day as a school community on October 29, each middle schooler will be an expert on the saint whose costume they wear.

I can’t wait to see our students show what they have already learned from this project!

Please check Facts and Teams for more specific assignment information.

God bless,
Miss Chappie
