Science Rocks!
This week, 8th grade took their first test over the CYCLING OF EARTH’S MATERIALS. The test covered volcanoes, the rock cycle, mineral formation, weathering, deposition, and erosion. Next week, we will begin learning about Plate Tectonics & Catastrophic Events.
7th grade continued studying WEATHER. Specifically, they were introduced to how and why weather changes and how air masses interact. They will be taking their first test in my class on Thursday over Topic 1 in their Savvas workbooks (The Water Cycle, Weather and Air Masses, and Weather Changes).
6th grade continued studying ENERGY. We worked on some rigorous math problems involving calculating and graphing kinetic energy. Students took a quiz today that we will review and correct on Monday. They will be taking their first test in my class on Friday, and the topics covered will be calculating and graphing kinetic energy, potential energy, and chapter vocabulary.
5th grade continued to work on the NATURE OF SCIENCE, exploring what scientists do and why they do what they do. We practiced making hypotheses and identifying variables this week. Last week, we took a quiz over the Scientific Method, and test corrections were due on Wednesday.
