2nd Grade Newsletter October 5th – October 8th (2)

This week we celebrated our Cristero Spirit with home coming activities and second grade did their part!  From Hat Day to Wacky Hair Day to Decades Day and Spirit Wear Day at our pep rally, our second graders showed up with the Spirit!

Remembering the amazing time we had making core memories with our Grandparents, I want to post the photos from 2A that did not make it in to last week’s news.  This was a wonderful preface to our Home Coming celebration!

As we look ahead to this first full week in October, we will begin discussing our All-Saints Day Celebration that will be on October 29.  This is a fun day in which our students dress up as a saint of their choice and present on stage.  Every week we learn about a few of the heroes of our Faith.  The Saints are our friends who, by their example help guide us home to Jesus.  There are saints for every walk of life, and from every time period in history.  Start the conversation with your student and find out who they want to be for All Saints Day!

We are putting our timelines together this week.  Please send in ten photos of your child from birth to the present for this project.  Thank you!

October is Respect Life month, so we are collecting spare change for our, “Change a Life Baby Bottle Campaign.”  Every class that fills their baby bottle will enjoy a donut or pizza party.  The funds support a pregnancy outreach center.

We will have our Second-Grade Class Mass on Thursday, October 8.  All are welcome!

Please check out your student’s red folder for the subject area content we are covering this week. Our newsletter is posted on the back cover. Please sign their behavior chart each night and empty the contents.  Behavior charts are returned to the teach every Monday. Reminder, students have language arts homework Monday-Thursday.  Four nights of completed language arts homework earns them a prize on Friday.  However, the greater reward that they receive from this homework practice is confidence. The specific homework schedule is in their binder.  All assignments are written in their spelling notebook.  Please assist your student in developing the habit of consistent practice.  The other skill that we are trying to develop is the responsibility shown by keeping materials together and having what is needed for class.  Many students say they did the work but leave the spelling notebook at home.  They only get credit if they bring it to class.  If your student is struggling with their binder because the rings are too small, please consider getting them a two-inch binder. Thank you for the many ways you support your students success in the classroom!

Have a beautiful week!
