2nd Grade Newsletter October 19th – October 23rd HDWord_Instructional_Resources_Unit_5_092623

Both Mrs. McCain’s and Ms. Plunkett’s second grade homerooms reached their virtue goals last week and so this week we enjoyed bringing well-behaved stuffies to school on Tuesday and a movie party on Friday hosted by Mrs. Mitchell’s homeroom.  The shared movie was Moana 2 and treats were enjoyed by all!

Our students have created one -decade rosaries that we use to pray the rosary on as well as count secret gifts for the Lord.  For example, being obedient to parents and teachers, when we would rather not stop our playing.  Sharing when we would rather keep something to ourselves. Or cleaning up without being asked.  Sacrifice beads are an idea that comes from Saint Theresa, the Little Flower who shows us that Heaven can be attained through small acts filled with great love.  Indeed, little children can attain great holiness.

This coming week we will be reading and writing about the saints that we have chosen to celebrate in our All-Saints Day Parade on October 29.  Please help your student put together a simple costume for their saint.  We will give a brief introduction for our Saint on stage as part of our Saints Day Parade. We will be practicing in school. Please encourage your student to share their knowledge of their Saint next week at the breakfast or dinner table at home.

Our First Quarter has come to a close.  We look forward to discussing your student’s progress with you at conferences on October 29th and 30th.  Please sign up for conferences or meet with us prior to the conference schedule.

We hope to see you at the Banquet on October 24th!

Have a joyful weekend!
