Speaking, Listening, and Collaborating – Real World Skills in Literature and Economics

Jenna Douglas-Fowler · Literature & Economics · September 25, 2026

This week both sections of literature and composition had time to draft, revise, type, and share their speeches for the upcoming Royalmont Academy Fall Banquet. Students did an incredible job sharing stories of their families, their peers, their studies, and most importantly, their faith. We looked explicitly at ways in which words that are spoken vary in structure and tone from words which are written and read. 9th and 10th grade students are working on the prologue of The Canterbury Tales. 11th and 12th grade students are on the third chapter of The Great Gatsby.

In Economics, students have found their own personalized learning pace. We will wrap up chapter two next week. During our collaboration time in class, students began brainstorming real-world applications to the terms they’ve been studying. Watch this space for student generated business ideas!
